-In the 2002 World Cup when Brazil played Turkey in the first round, there was a controversial penalty kick given. A Turkish player kicked the ball into Rivaldo's shoulder, and Rivaldo then acted like he was in a lot more pain than he really was (Rivaldo later even admitted this). Rivaldo held his head in pain (even though the ball really hit his shoulder). The Turkish player was Red Carded, and Brazil was given a penalty kick, which they scored on. That was what Brazil won the game by.

-Yesterday, when Italy played Australia in the second round, an Italian player named Grosso fell down in the box, and it appeared to many viewers to be a dive. The referee gave Italy a penalty kick, on which they scored. That was what Italy won the game by.

Which of these do you think was worse call by the referee, and why?

well to be honest the scenario (over acting & the whole aspect of the foul) would make it a worst call since the enhanced dive seems to be common practice... but do to the timing on the australia/italy match really makes me lean towards this as the worst call... with so little time left in a a do or die match...just seems unreasonable...it was such an unsatisfying finish...very disappointing...

You have a point. But I personally still view this as people being biased against Italians. It seems a lot of people have the attitude "when a Brazilian dives to win the game, it's alright. When an Italian dives to win the game, it's an absolute disgrace."

true... to be honest ... that was my 1st thought at the end ... but it didn't affect my prev made comment ... I'm not a brazil fan either (just cause everyone else is though.... no real reason to be honest they are fine people ;) .... there is alot of prejudice around the italians & i dont debate that there was more bullshit involved in the brazil/turkey match...but with x amount of secs left before OT...with all other matches where players are dropping like flies ... still think this was a worst call Wink

so what about zidane?
