Topic: I have a stupid question... < Next Oldest | Next Newest > HarpuaFSB Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: June 2002 Posted: June 07 2002,17:23 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey all, Ignorant American here... I've been watching the World Cup and when they display a players stats, they have a stat for "caps". What the #### is that? I can't find info on what that is anywhere... *slowly backs out of forum* Thanks... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HarpuaFSB Group: Members Posts: 2 Joined: June 2002 Posted: June 07 2002,17:24 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh yeah, please be nice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- el conejo Unregistered Posted: June 09 2002,22:23 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No problem, It's very straightforward. Being "capped" is being playing a game for your national team. So to say, for example, that Michael Owen has been capped 38 times for England, means he has played 38 competitive matches for them. I don't believe "friendlies count" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick Unregistered Posted: June 12 2002,09:04 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also when a player is 'capped' he recieves an actual cap, something like a baseball style cap with the teams logo. During the '94 World Cup a player was Colombia was capped in a different way. He scored an own goal and was 'retired permanently' when he got home.
