To me, this suggests people are clearly biased against Italians. Look at the facts:

Italy loses the 1990 World Cup Semi-Final to Argentina on Penalty Kicks, and everyone says everything is fine. Italy loses the 1994 World Cup Final to Brazil on Penalty Kicks, and everyone says everything is fine. Italy loses the 1998 World Cup Quarter-Final to France on Penalty Kicks, and everyone says everything is fine....... But in 2006 when Italy wins a World Cup Final Penalty shoot out against France, everyone says it's a tragedy and FIFA decides it's time to change the system.

I don't like Penalty Kicks, they're like tossing a coin in the air, they do nothing to prove who the better team is. But the reality is nobody has yet come up with a better solution.

1. Golden Goals sound like a better idea, but in reality they don't work. If there still would be PKs after 30 minutes of playing under Golden Goal rules, then it doesn't make anything better - it only makes things worse... And in reality you can't have players play and under Golden Goal rules for unlimited time. Would that mean if nobody ever scores they just play forever?

2. Rematches sound fair, but the reality is they'll cause major problems with the schedule of the tournament. If a Second Round match ends a draw, and then they play a rematch 3 days later which again ends a draw, then what do you do? Does that mean every other game in the tournament must be seriously post-poned to keep all teams on at the same stages at the same time?
And what about the tickets? I think everyone who attends games will be furious if after spending as much as they did on tickets, the game then becomes nulified and only the rematch counts. I doubt FIFA wants to let fans keep re-using the same ticket everytime the match must be replayed.

3. The idea of gradually taking players off the field until a Golden Goal is scored is the worst idea I've heard yet. I'm not even going to waste my time explaining what's wrong with that.

No real soccer fans likes PK shoot outs. But if anyone has a better solution, let me know.
