Argentine referee openly favours Portugal before the match
While refs can openly favour certain teams at the World Cup, a stadium announcer encouraging home supporters is just too much for FIFA, the experienced Andreas Wenzel substituted during Germany's quarter-final win over Argentina on Friday for urging the Berlin support to get behind their team.

"This had no place in the balanced neutrality of an announcer," Markus Siegler, a spokesman for world soccer's governing body, said of Wenzel's comments.

"It's not acceptable."

Interesting. Especially given Horacio Elizondo's comments ahead of England's quarter-final against Portugal on Saturday.

The Argentinian referee admitted he preferred Portugal's "more technical" style of play to England's use of "high balls" and that he would be watching England carefully for fouls when the ball is in the air.

Elizondo escaped censure and referees the match today.

England went out because they were just not good enough and I'll stop there, since I could say much worst about their usesless team.

Rooney is well known for his attitude and he is always a candidate for a red card, he's talented but very stupid... period!
